Obituary for Kathleen "Kitty" F. Hoyle

Kathleen F. “Kitty” Hoyle, 92, of Colonial Heights, went to be with her Lord on Friday May 12, 2017. She was born January 3, 1925, in Alabama to the late Harold A. and Corine Smith Farmer; she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George K. Hoyle; a daughter, Brenda Jean Hoyle; two granddaughters, Melissa Jean and Melinda Jan Harger; and her siblings, Rex, Bitty, Edith and David. Mrs. Hoyle was a WWII United States Army Veteran, a hairdresser for over 70 years, a member of Lakemont Baptist Church where she was a Deacon and long-time Sunday School teacher, and also a member of the Gideon International Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Bobby Joe Harger of Colonial Heights; four grandsons, Shawn Michael Harger and wife, Misty, Jeremy Aaron Harger and wife, Amber, Ryan Joseph Harger and wife, Amy, and David Kenneth Harger; great-grandchildren, Leah, Ellie, Evelyn, Caedmon, Elias, Temperance, Azalea, and Lincoln; three sisters, Mattie Birchett and husband, Mike, Joyce Morrison and husband, Fred, and Jane Courtney; one brother, Harold A. Farmer, Jr. and wife, Sara; and numerous nieces and nephews and two special friends, sister-in-law Myrtice Farmer and Nancy Meade. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 17, 2017, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Ben Dyer officiating. Interment with Military honors will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday May 16, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Although flowers are welcome, donations are preferred and may be made for Bibles to Gideon International, P.O. Box 310 Petersburg, Virginia 23803.
