Obituary for Patricia Dalton Rush

Patricia Dalton Rush
Patricia "Pat" Dalton Rush, 63, of Petersburg, VA, peacefully entered into the gates of heaven after a courageous battle at VCU Medical Center on Sunday, September 3, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. Pat was born March 8, 1954, in Altavista, VA, to Carvol and Doris Dalton. She was a spirited and adventurous child and her faith and relationship with God were very important to her from a young age. Pat attended Bluefield College where she met and fell in love with Randy Rush. They were married in Altavista when they were 20 years old, and just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on August 17th. Pat's greatest wish in life was to be a loving wife and mother and in that goal she was incredibly successful. She had four children, six grandchildren, and a faithful canine companion. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, decorating, singing, and spending time with her family. Pat is survived by her husband, Randy Rush of Petersburg, VA; mother, Doris Dalton of Titusville, FL; two sisters, Joan (Gene) Loyd of Titusville, FL, and Kim (Doug) Holda of Northport, FL; one brother, Rusty Dalton of Philadelphia, PA; three daughters, Summer Rush of Richmond, VA, Rachel (Shawn) Wynn of Dinwiddie, VA, and Mary (Jeff) Brown of Madison Heights, VA; one son, Patrick Rush, of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Michael, Karly, Mallory, Kenzey, Eden, and Clara; one dog, Ollie; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 7 at 3pm at Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Rd, N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 6, 2017, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the same location. Funeral services are being arranged by E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
