Obituary for Herman Wilson Overby Jr.

Herman Wilson Overby, Jr., 64, of Ford, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his residence. Born May 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Herman Wilson, Sr. and Ella Jean Overby. He was a member of Matoaca Methodist Church. Herman was an insurance agent with Lundie Insurance and had retired from State Farm after 35 years of service. He is survived by his sons, Russell Leigh Overby, Christopher Ryan Overby and wife, Robin Lynn; grandchildren, Alyssa and Regan Overby; devoted companion, Jane R. Martin; brother, Milton Ray Overby; and numerous friends and customers. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Boykins United Methodist Church, 32167 S. Main Street, Boykins, Virginia, 23827, with Pastors Michael Baugham and Heewon Cho officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123, or to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
